I am Jan “Bas” Johansen – a Danish expat - one of the Vikings etc. who’s claim to fame is that he loves jazz in all it forms and from any period and through Riviera FM has been given the opportunity to produce a couple of weekly shows – “ ‘ROUND MIDNIGHT” every Tuesday between 21:00 – 01:00 which is based around his life in Jazz from 1954 to date through anecdotes and stories  and pieces of music associated with the musicians and performers, who he has had the fortune to meet, get to know, work with and amongst whom some he can or could call his friends, as many of whom now jam in the great Jazz Club in the Sky and he also wants to give you, the audience, an opportunity to hear and experience a form of music, from which all today’s pop music stem.

The other show broadcast on Sundays between 20:00 – 22:00 is called “Swing and Sweet from the Big Band Era” which is aiming to take you down Memory Lane musically focussing on the great Big Bands/Dance Bands of yester year whilst not forgetting current Big Bands such as The Danish Radio Big Band, the UK’s Youth Jazz Orchestra and many others. He hopes to through these two shows give Jazz an opportunity to once again be fully and widely appreciated and possibly even to rebuild its rightful position in our musical lives..
